Saudi Arabia loses bid for seat on UN's premier human rights body

Saudi Arabia failed to secure a seat in the UN Human Rights Council following accusations of serious rights violations by rights groups. The 193-member General Assembly elected 18 new council members from regional groups to ensure geographical representation, with Thailand, Cyprus, Qatar, South Korea, and Marshall Islands taking the Asia-Pacific seats.
