Why New York parents fear Math is failing their children

New York parents are increasingly alarmed by their children’s weak grasp of mathematics, despite modest gains in test scores. An EdTrust–New York survey shows 43 per cent fear stalled progress, a concern echoed by NAEP data revealing deeper, long-term declines. Experts warn the problem predates Covid-19, rooted in widening gaps, reduced academic stamina, and fragile learning foundations.
