NYC converts hotels to shelters to accommodate asylum seekers

The historic Roosevelt Hotel in Manhattan is set to reopen as emergency shelter for asylum seekers, as New York City faces a space shortage to house incoming migrants. Mayor Eric Adams revealed the city would utilise the hotel to accommodate up to 1,000 asylum seekers, as other prominent Manhattan hotels are similarly repurposed.
