Crews extinguish Kentucky derailment fire that prompted town to evacuate, rail operator says

CSX confirmed that the chemical fire caused by a Kentucky train derailment has been extinguished. The train derailed in Livingston, prompting the evacuation of residents. The fire was caused by molten sulfur, which resulted in the release of sulfur dioxide gas. Although air monitoring equipment was deployed, results have not yet been released. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear declared a state of emergency and assured the affected residents that they will receive assistance. CSX has also promised to cover the costs of evacuation and provide Thanksgiving dinner.
